Ankita loved children. She always longed for the day when she would be able to hold her own baby in her arms. Despite trying for 1 and half years, Ankita was not able to conceive due to polycystic ovary. When she was just about to give up hope, she became pregnant and was soon blessed with a beautiful baby girl. But instead of celebrating her baby's birth, Ankita and her husband, Pankaj are fighting every second to keep their baby alive.

“I was so excited to welcome my baby. God answered my prayers and send her to me before her time. My baby girl was born in the 7th month and has been in the NICU since then. I haven’t been able to feed her even once. I am often not even allowed to stay near her for too long. She is so tiny and there are so many tubes all over her body. When I look at her, my heart breaks."

The baby has already undergone a surgery and needs ventilator support to stay alive now

Ankita’s baby was born with many complications. Her intestines are not properly developed, hence she can’t even drink milk. Due to an underdeveloped digestive system, the baby girl couldn't pass stools. She had to undergo an urgent surgery on 13th November, an artificial channel was made for the stool to pass. The few-days-old baby has to stay in the NICU on ventilator support now.

“Our families are eagerly waiting to see our baby. She is the first baby in the family. Everyone just keeps praying for her to stay alive. My baby is in so much pain, she is too weak to even cry. We haven’t named her yet and she has already suffered so much. All I want now is take my baby out of the hospital and give her a better life.”

After spending lakhs in less than a month, the couple is struggling very hard to save their firstborn

Ankita used to work in a private company. Soon after she became pregnant, she resigned from her job to take care of her health. Her husband, Pankaj works in a private company as a salesperson. Their family income was decent enough to live a normal life. Since their baby has stepped into the world, they have already spent almost Rs 4 lakhs in less than a month which was beyond their means. They have borrowed money from their friends and spent whatever savings they had. Pankaj can longer afford to arrange Rs 7.5 lakhs to save his baby girl.
