I am Rakesh Singh and I am a teacher and also a social worker  living in Ghaziabad (U.P). An evening before yesterday I encountered a poor person nearby my residence lying on street, deeply injured in his right leg below knee and partially conscious. It was hard to watch his right leg as his skin was eaten and decayed by the maggots(skin worms).  His wounds are so deep and infected that it has high number of maggots inside and outside it and skin was rotten, smelling and his bones were left and clearly visible outside his leg below knee. 

He was lying there from last two days. I called my friends to help him. We offered him woollen clothes and food. I started enquiring him about how he came here and how he got wounded and we came to know that His name is Rahul Jain and he was left here by his family and he didn’t replied much. He does not have any id proof. We then informed the police and called ambulance and at 8:30 pm we took him to M.M.G District Hospital, Ghaziabad . We requested to treat the old man but They clearly denied to provide the initial First Aid or to admit him and referred him to G.T.B Hospital, New Delhi.  We then reached G.T.B Hospital at around 11:30 pm at night and waited for a long time. There also doctors denied to treat him initially but we never left the place and requested hard till 3:00am. 

Then doctors finally got ready just for the initial first aid and dressing of the wound by clearing few outside maggots. This man was badly smelling as the wound was rotten and had worms clearly visible outside his skin. No one was ready to carry or hold this person in hospital as worms were falling out of his leg. We got disappointment from the government hospitals so we decided to admit him to a private hospital.

We then took him to Avantika Hospital, Ghaziabad and admitted him at 6:20am next day. Doctors performed tests and told us that his leg is heavily infected (Total Leukocyte Count should be 6000-10000 but he had 34200 which is alarming condition) and kidney function derange, nil urine output and less intake etc.. On performing few more tests next day we got to know that his right leg (below knee) is highly infected and rotten by the worms and bones are also damaged. He has unstable mind sensorium due to this damage. Doctors told us that they need to do operation and cut his right leg (below knee) as this is the only option left to stop the infection. Also, We then informed the SHO and CO city (Police) in written about this strange person. They inquired him but did not find any lead to contact his family or his actual identity. He just said that he is from hari nagar and has two sons. This person is well educated and belong to a good family as speaks in English and communicate in a good and respected tone.
As this person is a stranger to us, we are trying hard to save his life but as he is admitted to a private hospital we are unable to pay the bills. His medicines, dressing and injections and very expensive. Also, operation is to be held in two stages which will require a good amount. We are trying to communicate with him but he is not responding to anything personal. Also he talks as per his mood and became a bit unstable and hard to communicate. 

We just want his recovery as we haven’t watched such a bad condition of a human being. This incident has completely shaken me and I require your help for further medications, hospitalization, personal hygiene, operation and other important human life expenses.

Therefore, I request you to help me so that I can operate him.
