As COVID-19 continues to spread, the future has never felt so unpredictable. In these testing times, the need to be safe and healthy is not lost on us. However, this isolation period has truly isolated us from witnessing the traumatizing situation of those poor and needy, the difficulties of the homeless and the hardships of the section of society who cannot afford to be safe and healthy.
One such important section that Bhumi actively works with, is the shelter homes and the children residing in them. Across India, Bhumi is associated with around 200 such orphanages and they are facing the brunt of this lockdown more than any of us. Mainly dependent on donations, these homes are now struggling to provide the basic three meals to their children.
Imagine their plight with each home having an average of around 50 children and staff, when some of us are facing difficulties ourselves, with a family of 3-4 people to go out and buy enough groceries.
This project provides basic grocery and medicines to these homes – we have a strong volunteer team that will call and assess the needs of these homes periodically. Once these needs are recorded, we connect with a grocery supplier to help these necessities reach the homes.
You can support our children by providing financial assistance that will help us pay for their needs until the COVID crisis passes. Be the champion and stand by our children in this testing time. Your support will help us ensure that no child sleeps hungry during this period of turmoil and uncertainty, and all of them have access to proper education after the lockdown ends.
If funds are left over after the lockdown ends, it will be used to support the continued education of children at risk by providing necessary help for school fees, books and stationaries.
Your support has already reached over 1,200 children across India. Be the champion and stand by at least one shelter home - ₹ 5,000 helps a shelter home with two days of groceries.
You can further support by starting a campaign for them and reaching out to your friends and family for support. Visit the Fight CoVid page on the Bhumi website and social media pages for regular updates and how you can volunteer in this time of need.
