I celebrate my birthday on April 14th. Usually, I don't do much for my birthday, and especially don't ask for gifts. But this time, I am asking for a gift from you. I'm supporting a cause - to help Milaap, Swiggy & GiveIndia in their campaign to help prepare and distribute meals in India to those who need them in these CoVID times. I would really appreciate your help on this. It costs approx INR 250 (EUR 3) to feed a family of four for 2x meals/ day (which works out INR 30 per meal). So, even INR1000 (EUR12) from each of you would help to support 30 meals, which is tremendous.

It’s time to spare a thought for the needy and vulnerable.
As the COVID-19 pandemic grows, there’s a section of society that has been brought to its knees. This includes the homeless, wage laborers, and stranded migrant workers. The people who depend on the day’s wages to put a meal on the table for themselves and their families.

At the same time, there are restaurants in the same cities that run the very real risk of shutting down permanently due to lack of business. This, in turn, has the potential to destroy the livelihoods of thousands of kitchen workers, waiters, cooks, and many more.

We can save them.

Help Swiggy distribute 5 lakh meals across India, daily.

What are we doing?
  • Swiggy is leveraging its network of restaurants and commercial kitchens to help several state governments and NGOs provide simple, wholesome meals in COVID-19 relief camps
  • Each 400gm meal is hygienically prepared and comprises rice, dal, and vegetables, to ensure nutritional needs are taken care of
  • As of 3rd April, Swiggy is distributing an average of 1 lakh+ meals per day
  • With your support, we aim to distribute an estimated 5 lakh daily meals across India in the coming weeks

How can you help?
Every contribution, no matter what amount, goes into preparing and distributing a meal for an underprivileged member of society. A donation of as little as ₹250 can provide a day’s meals to a family of four. With this, you can help make sure a homeless person survives to see another day of dignity and hope. This initiative will also help keep the lights on in restaurants that would otherwise be forced to shut down and leave thousands of workers unemployed.

An initiative of Swiggy in association with GiveIndia, a non-profit organization.

Milaap has waived off fees for this campaign.
