Hi everybody,
I Vidhita Malhotra , a volunteer at HAMARI PAHACHAN NGO is working on the cause “malnutrition/ hunger amongst the poor”. My family always taught us from the very beginning that we should work for a cause and not for applause, therefore, making SEWA our first priority. It is rightly said that “true democracy will only come to this country when no one goes hungry to bed”.
I would like to start with a small story of death by starvation which took place recently in a district of Uttar Pradesh.
In January this year, a 45-year-old mother of 3 children, who lived in a rented room in Moradabad town died due to starvation. There was no food in their house for 15 days and the family survived on whatever the neighbors could spare.
Deaths due to malnutrition are not new to India. In a population of 1.38 billion, this is the story of only 1 family. I would like u all to acknowledge for a minute how many families die every day just because of malnutrition.
It is a fact that India is home to a quarter of the world's hungry (according to the statistics compiled by the Food and Agriculture Organization). 50% of deaths among children under 5 are related to malnutrition according to WHO.
In such a social setting, getting support is very difficult. In addition, covid -19 has made the situation worse. Hunger is a real problem, with the need for real solutions. Our problem is not the lack of food, our problem is the lack of access to food for millions.
Hence I am raising a fundraiser campaign with the help of Hamari Pahachan NGO .
The donations would contribute as ration for poor families. Your donations are enough to make a difference between life and death . Contribution and support is all that matters.
