More than 300 million girls and women between the ages of 15 and 49 are menstruating everyday. Managing menstruation hygienically and with dignity is crucial for health and well being of women.

Hygiene is preferred by everyone but when we go into a separate segment of this broad topic referred as menstrual hygiene , people turn their backs and refrain to speak publicly and subject it to be a Taboo. This in-turn have affected and unimaginable number of women and girls that has led them to face severe challenges in menstrual hygiene management.

At least 500 million women and girls around the world do not have access to basic menstruation hygiene facilities. Lack of basic education and the lack of adequate resources have played a significant role globally, particularly in rural and underdeveloped areas.

I'm Uzma, a law student volunteering  with the Hamari Pahchan NGO. I've been looking into the management of menstrual hygiene in both distant areas and underprivileged segments of society. The findings are startling because, when it comes to taking effective actions for this positive cause for society, even the contributory step is the area that is least likely to others' interest.

With hamari pahchan under "Sukhad" - an initiative in which we aim to make life of under privileged a little easier during the time of mensturation providing them with sanitary pads , educating them regarding menstrual hygiene and making all of us understand that period and talking about the same is not a Taboo

On World Menstrual Hygiene Day, Hamari Pahchan NGO distributed Sanitary Kits and it came in limelight on Republic Bharat news channel:

After conducting a survey in the slums, it was discovered that there are women who are suffering from various problems due to non-maintenance of their menstrual health.

I'll be distributing Sanitary Kits to these underprivileged women so that they have the proper means and access to good hygiene.

Hamari Pahchan NGO has distributed more than 30,000 Sukhad Kits in 2021 and their aim is to distribute at least 50,000 Sukhad Kits to women. These kits would include 24 packets of Sanitary Pads 6 packets of Soap and disposable paper envelopes.

Sukhad Kit for 1 woman = Rs.1400/-
Sukhad Kt for 5 women = Rs.7,000/-
