Help 12-year-Old Harsh Stay Alive.

My son was diagnosed with Thalassemia when he was 6 months old.  Since then he was on blood transfusion. We need to spend 20,000 to 30,000 for every transfusion and we have been doing this since when Harsh was 6 months old.  It was when he turned 11 that doctors said that he can no longer continue with just blood transfusions. Thalassemic Patients life span reduces after 10 years.

A bone marrow transplant is the only curative option. The estimation for the same is Rs.25 lakhs. We have mortgaged our house and moved to Bangalore since Harsh's transplant was planned at Narayana Hrudayalaya.

I  have a printing shop in Bhuvaneswar and with the income from the shop. I managed Harsh's treatment till now. Mortgaging my house gave me some money and I deposited it in the hospital for the transplant. I am short of 15 lakhs and

Dear Supporters,

I am Sudhakar, a Milaap Open fellow from Bengaluru. I spoke to Harsh’s father, Gunjan, on 2nd September over a phone call.

The Bone marrow transplant was carried out on 14th June. The donor for his transplant was his elder brother Aditya. He was discharged a week ago  from Narayana Hrudayalaya.

Minor neurological complications arose during the surgery because of which he has not been able to walk properly. Physiotherapy sessions are currently being held and he has started walking normally. He is also visiting the hospital twice every week for routine check-ups and blood tests. They have rented a house near the hospital so that it is easy for them to visit the hospital whenever required.

The printing shop in Bhubaneshwar is currently being managed by Gunjan’s relatives. His first priority is Harsh’s complete recovery. He can’t stop thanking all the donors for their contributions. He said, “While money is important, it is your blessings and prayers that have made it possible to sustain so far. Please continue to pray for his quick recovery.”
