“Divya and I spent our evenings talking about everything under the sun. We’ve been married for over 2 years now, and it’s our little ritual. That night too, we sat discussing how we were nearing the arrival of our twins. We were excited and a little tensed, but we were so happy! Suddenly, the expression on Divya’s face changed. She rushed to the bathroom, she was bleeding heavily. We assumed the worst – she had a miscarriage!” – Manoj, father

Divya was rushed to a hospital in Nagpur where she was told that she needed to deliver her twins as soon as possible. Else, she risked hers and her babies’ lives. At 12:55 am on 22nd July, Divya and Manoj’s twins were born - almost one month premature. And they were fighting to stay alive.

It’s been 12 days and this heartbroken mother hasn’t stopped crying

Divya and Manoj’s twins – a boy and a girl – were born extremely underweight and struggling to breathe. They were immediately taken to the NICU and placed on ventilator support. Divya had barely looked at them for what felt like a few seconds before they were taken away from her.

“It’s been 12 days, but Divya hasn’t stopped crying. I can't even console her. I can understand how difficult it must be for her to watch them like this... she’s still recovering from the delivery, but she insists on seeing our babies every day. I can’t stop her.”

It’s a difficult sight for these new parents. Their babies are covered with tubes, and they can’t even carry them or touch them. Manoj often thinks about all the plans they had for their family. He tries his best not to breakdown. He knows his babies need to stay in the NICU for at least one month to get better, and he’s doing his best. Unfortunately, it’s not enough.

All they wanted was to give their babies a better life than they had

Manoj is a gym instructor in Nagpur, but it’s been over 5 months since he’s earned anything. He managed to spend over a lakh on his twins’ treatment so far by borrowing from friends and family. He has also mortgaged the little gold they had. That’s more than he can ever afford.

“Divya had also decided to work once the babies were born. We knew we wanted to give them a better life than we had growing up. We were determined…but now we can’t even afford one more day of their treatment! Sometimes I feel like we’ve already failed them as parents. We’re supposed to protect them but…I’ve done everything I can. Even now I’m calling everyone I know for help. But it’s not enough. Please help me save my babies!”

They can’t save their babies without your help

Divya and Manoj’s twins are slowly gaining strength with every passing day. But they have a long road ahead of them. The only way they can overcome this and go home healthy is with your help. Your support can ensure that they complete their treatment and it is safe for their parents to take them home. You can save these babies’ lives.
