Help Ved undergo a bone marrow transplant

I am fundraising for my 18-month-old son, Ved's BMT.My son, Ved Gotecha,  is suffering from Thalassaemia Major. Thalassaemia Major is a blood disease in which the child is given blood transfusion frequency till he survives. My child needs a blood transfusion every 3 weeks. He was being diagnosed with this when he was just 8 months old. This process will increase the iron levels in the body and in order to control this there are expensive drugs.
Doctors advised that he needs to undergo a bone marrow transplant. We have consulted with doctors at Christian Medical College (CMC). As he does not have HLA-matched sibling, The best option for him would be to undergo a peripheral blood stem cell transplant with matched unrelated donor (MUD).
Luckily, the doctors were able to find a  a 10 / 10 HLA matched donor from the NMDP bone marrow bank.
The estimated cost for the transplant of Rs.50 lakhs. (letter dated 16 December 2015. Copies of CMC letter of BMT and the cost are enclosed herewith for kind perusal and ready reference.)

I am working in a private sector in Ahmedabad. It has been very difficult for me to make ends meet.  I have been trying hard to financially support my family of four members from my small income. But these medical expenses are way over my capacity. We have managed to raise some funds from my friends and relatives.  But we still have a long way to go.

With your support we can save my child. You can make a donation here by clicking on the 'Donate Now' button.

Note: You can donate via Cheque too. Enter the amount you wish to contribute and click on 'Donate Now' option. On the next page, choose 'Cheque' as a payment method and follow the steps.

Dear Supporters,
It’s very sad to inform you that my son master VED ROHIT Gotecha is no more with us, after a long fight he left us.

After first Bone marrow transplantation in October ,first 2 chrimerism report was 100% but as we did the third chrimerism it was only 55% . So doctors advised us to get back to the hospital ASAP so we immediately left for Vellore. they did all the examination and tests doctors did DLI process with this process chrimerism reports we 79% just after 15 days along with that GvHD was there which was a good sign that the DLI process was working. after few more days one more chrimerism report was done which came 85%. But Ved’s count was not going up than 1500 with all the process and Grafill everyday. so they took bone biopsy test and with that they found that the area which is responsible to make the blood cell is almost empty, 25% of the area had cells in which 85% of donor’s cell and 15 % of ved’s cell .

With all these reports and conditions, doctors were too confused as it was a graft rejection plus GvHD which is rarest of the rare case as these two things are never meant to be happened at the same time. But unfortunately it was there, so doctors decided to go for second Bone Marrow Transplantaion. during all this Ved got Pneumonia in chest , going for second BMT with infection in chest was vey risky decision but we were left with no other choice as it was no going back with this kind of condition.

In second BMT chemo was given for 6 days and on 7th day Bone marrow was transplanted it was going good till 7th day after transplant but after that he got ulcer in mouth infection was increasing day by day. due to the infection he was not able to take oxygen properly as lungs were covered with infection. He was immediately shifted to ICU at midnight.Doctors decided to give him WBC from outside from the donor of same blood group to control the infection. It was given to him the very next day which led to his counts and platelets increase to a certain level but infection was spread so much that it became very difficult for doctors to control it.They put Ved on ventilation on 8th April. On 9th April at 6am his heart stopped , doctors started it with shock therapy but it lasted no long, the same day at 10.15 am Ved left this world.

It’s difficult for me to manage this situation because last 2 years, I was busy with only Ved’s health and this question comes in mind every hour, now what i need to do without Ved?

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE

Thank you,
Rohit
