My Wife And Our Newborn Are Battling Severe Childbirth Complications

My father passed away 6 years ago and it was a very hard time for my family. Within a few months, my marriage was finalized. My wife, Tabassum and I were so young and our marriage was totally arranged. But now, with time, she trusts me and I trust her with all my heart. I love her a lot. I’m a very simple, normal and honest man. I have only studied up till the 7th grade and now, I work as a scrap material collector. I earn around Rs. 300 per day. Just 2 years after marriage, we were blessed with our first child too.

Akmal and Tabassum
I don’t even have any big ambitions or aspirations to travel to different places. I’m one of those who is completely content with what he has. We rent a small home for Rs. 2500 a month. I don’t have a car or anything, or a fancy phone. More so, I live in Mysore and in 6 years of our marriage, I haven’t even taken her to see the Mysore Palace. One needs to be able to afford traveling to different places. There are a few days where I do additional labor and help with the loading and unloading of things and I earn around Rs. 600 then.

When I earn extra money, I don’t go out and spend it. In fact, I go straight home and spend extra time with Tabassum and Ayaan the next day, and cherish my moments. Now, those moments seem to be the happiest because the past 15 days have been the hardest days of my life. I can’t even begin to explain.

When I heard that I was going to be a father to a second child, I was very happy. When she was in labor, there was a lot of internal bleeding and this was very dangerous. The doctor told me that even though she is not ready, they had to remove the child right then otherwise both could die. They successfully removed the baby girl, but because Tabassum had lost so much blood by then that both were extremely critical. The baby couldn’t breathe properly. She also had mild jaundice and an issue with her heart. She was admitted to the NICU immediately. This was such a horrific time for me. My newborn was battling for her life and in the other room, my wife was doing the same.

The doctors said that Tabassum got extremely weak from losing so much blood and only God could save her. They had lost hope. She was in the ICU as well. Those days were extremely hard for me, so I went to a nearby masjid and publicly pleaded with everyone to pray for my wife and child’s health. I had nothing left. After what seemed like 5 very long days, my wife miraculously opened her eyes!

Everyone had lost hope but she survived and I believe that everyone’s prayers helped. She is still recovering but she has chances of complete recovery. Soon, I got news that my baby is also getting better and has chances of complete recovery too. We named her Tamanna. Now, both, my wife and my 15-day-old daughter need additional attention to recover but I have spent so much that I have nothing left to pay for their treatments.

I raised Rs. 40,000 through the help of the Masjid and I spent all my savings, which were around Rs. 60,000 too. In total, I’ve paid around Rs. 2 lakhs for their treatments, medicines and whatever was needed to keep them alive. I borrowed money from several people too and I have to pay them back with interest. By God’s grace, my wife and my child are alive but I’m in constant worry because I don’t have anything to provide for the additional treatments both need.
Your support will save Tabassum and her 15-day-old baby Tamanna.
