SWEAT IT FOR SCHOOLKIDS - COVID-19 RELIEF FUND FOR TEACH FOR INDIA

Tax benefits
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in schools being shut across the country, including my own. While I am unable to physically attend school, my education has been uninterrupted - the usual routine of tests, exams and classes continues. I have realised how privileged I am to be able to participate in school life from the comfort of my home.

Unfortunately, this is not the case for many of my peers and fellow students - especially those from under-resourced and marginalized communities. Not only has their education been brutally disrupted, their households also lack food and basic supplies needed for survival.

Teach for India's campaign is trying to ensure that these children and families get immediate relief - food and basic supplies - and that they don’t stop learning. They started by identifying the needs of their 32,000 students, and pinpointed their urgent needs. Teach for India is trying to ensure that these children have sufficient food, water, shelter and medical assistance.

Running is one of my passions, and to support these critical relief efforts, I commit to running a total distance of 125 km until 27th June. For every kilometre that I run, I ask you to donate just Rs. 2 - a total contribution of Rs. 250. If you wish to donate more, please feel free to do so. Every rupee you give will be used to provide a variety of basic amenities to communities that desperately need them, and to make sure children across India continue attaining the valuable resource of knowledge.

Please note that I will take adequate safety precautions in the process - running in isolated areas and quieter times, maintaining adequate social distancing and wearing masks at all times. If the situation worsens, I will ensure that I do not endanger my life as well as the lives of those around me.

I request you to donate to this wonderful cause. It is our responsibility as a society to take care of those in need, and your donations can play an important role in achieving this.

Dear Donors,

We hope that you and your loved ones are safe, healthy and well.

We’re writing to you with excellent news. We were successful in reaching our fundraising goal to provide relief in our community during the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. This was done through donations made on our Milaap fundraising page as well as through donations made directly by individuals and organisations. To each one of you who donated and supported us in our time of need, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. The money we raised and the Students and their families we’ve helped wouldn’t have been possible without your generosity.

Through our collections, we have impacted 6500+ families by providing them with ration and grocery kits. Additionally, we’ve also been able to get internet recharges for our Students and will continue to do so.

Truly, we are humbled to have such an extensive network of friends and supporters who have rallied around us, ensuring that our Students and their families don’t go hungry and are able to keep learning. In the years to come, this will serve as a powerful reminder of what kindness can yield, even in the darkest of times.

To continue donating and supporting the work we do please reach out to us on donate@teachforindia.org

Thank you once again for your love and support. We are grateful.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!Thanks to everyone who donated to my campaign - I have completed my goals of Rs. 25000 with one day to go!

All the funds donated are being used for internet connectivity for children to continue their education in this new normal, as well as groceries and other resources for their families so that the children are not inconvenienced. Teach For India has ensured that students across the nation continue with their studies and don't lose out on the most precious asset of all - knowledge. Covid-19 has affected them the worst, but TFI has enabled them to continue pursuing their dreams unencumbered.

As for my distance, I have finished 122.31 km leaving me with only 2.69 km for the last day :) I am saving this for a timed run, to check my growth over the course of my challenge.

Once again, thank you so much dear donors!

Hey everyone!

I had my school final exams for grade 11 going on, so I was slightly busy and did not get adequate time to update my runs. I have, since my last update, completed another 53 km. This includes my first 10 km run since the lockdown. My stamina seems to have gone down, but I am gonna continue to persist.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated since then! All of these funds are going a long way to help the families of underprivileged children sustain themselves through these trying times. Teach For India is continuing to work tirelessly, and every rupee gets them closer to their goal.
