Would you like to support a venture that not only promotes arts but also makes art a vehicle to support children of special needs?
The ARTery is a unique Chennai-based arts portal focused on curating and presenting authentic content in Indian classical & performing arts. Our flagship event is SVATANTRA, a festival centred around Independence Day every year, with the theme being Creative Freedom. The festival is different because of the varied and eclectic content and the unprecedented cross-genre collaborations that are presented. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, every year we feature a performance by children with special needs and artistes with disability!

The festival will be having its sixth edition this year from Aug 11-15 at Youth Hostel (Hamsadhwani), Adyar, Chennai. Pride of place goes to a spectacular theatre production on the life of Bhagwan Ramana Maharshi. We also present a traditional Namasankeertanam for the first time, by the peerless Udayalur Kalyanaraman Bhagavatar. Another unique presentation will be a rewind nostalgia of vintage Tamil film melodies based on classsical tunes, presented by media personality Subhasree Thanikachalam and sung by popular upcoming and young playback singers. There will also be traditional Carnatic and Hindustani performances by popular artistes. Corporate sponsorship for the arts has been dwindling dramatically and gate collections are insufficient to meet the costs. Your help is necessary for us to continue this effort.

SVATANTRA is The ARTery's annual flagship event during the week of India's Independence Day in August, thereby having Creative Freedom as the theme! It's a one-of-its-kind event that brings together the most diverse arts forms under one umbrella and over the years we have brought you some spectacular presentations:
