Help Sunit an young IITian to fight his life battle

My younger brother, Sunit, was meet with a near-drowning accident on 15-April. As a result of this, he suffered severe traumatic brain damage. In medical term, the condition is called brain hypoxic damage. He has been in ICU and in on ventilator support since 15/4/18. Doctors mentioned that it is a very critical case. And this will need critical care.
Sunit is special. He is the youngest of us. Although he was born with mild cerebral palsy which affected his speech and hearing abilities, he fought through all this, and develop himself into a well-rounded individual. Being always curious and the smartest of us (we are 3), he went ahead to join IIT Guwahati to pursue engineering.  He loves watching and playing cricket and doing creative stuff.
It's really hard to believe that such an unfortunate incident can happen to the kindest of soul like Sunit. He's still a kid. He still sleeps next to Mom whenever she is around and brings home a stray animal whenever he finds one. His dream is to have a big farmhouse with all the stray dogs or animals rehabilitated there, enjoying and playing. Let's hope for the best.
The timing of this incident is also very bad. Mom and Dad are old. Our Dad is a retired doctor (10 years back). Mother is a homemaker. I'm married and is expecting now. Manish, his elder brother, is doing his higher studies in the US now. The timing of this incident and the shock has left us in shatters. Just recently, Dad was also admitted to ICU for pressure issue and cervical spondylitis.
I and my brother are trying to be strong and manage the things here. At this point, I need your prayers as well as some financial support so that we continue to support him in this long recovery process. We are not going to let go of him till the end. We know he has been a fighter all through his life and he will come back.

Initially, the ICU and ventilator support cost us around Rs. 1 lakh per day. We supported him through our savings and family support for the first 30 days. Currently, he is in a support and recovery mode. And the ICU cost is coming out to be around 3 lakhs per week. We are doing as much as possible from our side. But we will need financial support if we have to fight it long. I will be sharing his medical reports, fee details and his recovery update to you all continuously.

Hence, reaching out to you for help, for Sunit.

Dear Supporters,

A quick update on Sunit's condition, our belief, and his supporters:

Sunit's body vitals are ok with some fluctuations here and there as the brain is showing poor neurological response. But we strongly believe the brain can heal itself (power of neuroplasticity). As per Dr. Manik (whom we consulted from Kerela), we should give him time and assess his condition regularly. As a family, we champion this. And, I believe as his supporters, you all want to give him a fair chance to fight back.

But we should all know that this is a long journey of recovery and patience. We don't know the time-frame. We don't know how much money we need. If it's 30 lakhs or more, we don't know. Please continue your support and pray for him.

We want to thank all for their contribution and prayers. Sunit told me once, 'Dada, someday, I will be world famous. And my friends will help me achieve that, not you or sister'. His campaign is now #1 in Milaap. People from different corners of the world are praying for him. Yesterday, a lady from Arizona, whom I don't know, pinged me and wished me luck while making a contribution. Technically speaking, he is famous (nobody thought this way) and his friends helped him. I strongly believe this love and goodwill will be the best medicine and his greatest ally. Thank you all for that.

Here's our plan of action -

1) Give Sunit appropriate time to come out of ICU.

2) Once his condition becomes stable, shift him to a low-cost facility where the quality of treatment is maintained so that we can manage the expenses better.

3) Take him to the 'The Clinic' run by Dr. Manik Hiranandani in Kerela for his rehabilitation process.

Thanks. Any other details anybody wants to know, do let us know.

Manish (brother) and Sweta (sister)
