We are Sang (संग), a group of young leaders who have come together with a simple motto in our hearts: "Locking down hunger, together". We have also initiated two campaigns to tackle the issue of increasing domestic violence (#SabkeSang) and to facilitate the movement of migrant workers to their homes. We hope to enable rehabilitation by providing employment to impacted communities currently living without livelihoods or a source of sustenance.
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Sang, through its campaign, SabkeSang, is raising funds for a family who are victims of the Delhi riots. The sole earning member of their family, Saleem ji, lost his only source of livelihood – his autorickshaw, as it was burnt. Barely managing to escape the mobs with his young boy, he has been unable to secure the insurance on the auto as the documents burnt with the vehicle. They have failed to get any compensation during the lockdown as there were no legal proceedings.
A family of 5 (3 children), they have been somehow surviving the lockdown without any source of income. Now, the family is struggling to even get food on the table. The wife, Hira ji, is uneducated and remains at home to care for her three children. We are hoping to help them by enabling them with a source of income.
A total sum of Rs. 60,000 will enable us to help him purchase an autorickshaw (commercial) and work towards earning for his family again. It will also provide them with some money in hand to meet their everyday needs until the rickshaw is purchased.
Please consider donating in cash or kind (by providing them with sources of employment). This will go a long way in helping their family through this difficult period. Please spread the word to be able to help them as soon as possible.
