Greetings from Little Hearts!

The Little Hearts Residential School forthe mentally challenged,respectfully requests a grant of INR 1,000,000 for our School’s compound wall construction and borewell installation.

           Serving the mentally and physically challenged children and adults since 1996, Little Hearts Society was formed as a charity organization at Panayur, Chennai and committed to meet the emerging needs of our little hearts.

Our work has progressed and our scope widened since that date. Good team effort, divine help and great support from friends and public has enabled us to care for many children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. As a result,the government in 2010 began to partner with us in the care of adult mentally challenged girls. This work is centered in Thiruvannamalai district.

Little Hearts Society’s initiative programme for the mentally challenged adult girls and establishing a centre for the same was recognized by the Government of TamilNadu. At present the centre is based in a rented building with 30 inmates. Our specially trained and dedicated staff is on duty 24/7 to take care of our little hearts.

We acknowledge that the running of this kind of residential program would not be possible without the help of two godly men Mr. Daniel and Mr.Issac. We are indebted to them for their support. At present we are in a rented building which can be problem with building owners as our girls can be noisy and in some situations cause some damage.  Also repair costs are difficult for us in this most needed rehabilitation program.

In 2014 we launched an appeal to buy our own land for this program. Mr. Daniel, Mr.Issac and friends and supporters from EC Group, Database Concern, Chennai, raised 21, lakhs within a year. We were able to purchased land with 1000 sq.ft building. This land is not sufficient to accommodate all the girls and staff, but it does provide 2 good class rooms for their vocational training and it is very close to our rented hostel building. The Vocational Training Centre gives much needed exposure to the local community and hopefully will result in additional support.

As you are aware about the recent events in India relating to the abuse of women, the government has issued guidelines for their protection as follows:-

Little Hearts have complied with all of the government guidelines except compound wall. And we do need to install a borewell to provide hygienic water supply. It is our utmost duty to ensure that our mentally challenged girls are completely protected, so, we seek financial support to help us complete this essential action.
