I, Harsh Chudasama, am a senior undergraduate at Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi, India.
I worked in the field of Novel Drug Delivery System and Dosage formulation. I successfully developed levofloxacin loaded chitosan nanoparticles with an aim to provide an efficient solution for ophthalmic bacterial infection through targeted drug delivery. My work mainly comprised of nanoparticle synthesis, loading of the drug on its surface and its subsequent characterization.
During summer 2018, my interest to provide practical solutions for medical problems motivated me to develop a useful Android application for battling digital eye strain, improper body posture, and irregular dosage cycles (due to lifestyle changes) with the help of a blue light filter, gyroscope controlled reminders and customized calendars respectively.
Upon graduating in 2020 with a Dual Degree (B.Tech + M.Tech) in Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology, I aim to pursue a Ph.D. where I can apply my knowledge to find innovative applied research solutions for cancer treatment, thus enabling me to contribute constructively towards the medical challenges being faced in a developing country like India.
WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS INTERNSHIP?
I have been accepted to work as a summer research intern at at Experimental Molecular Imaging (ExMI), RWTH Aachen University in Germany this summer, for a duration of 3 months (May to August).
Having a rich experience in the field of nanomedicine, I can effectively utilize my knowledge and skills in the synthesis, characterization and analysis of therapeutic nanomedicines in an attempt to achieve a balance between the efficacy and the toxicity of drug therapies.
Therefore working as a summer intern in one of the world's leading research institutes like RWTH Aachen will give me an opportunity to be mentored by some of the best minds in nanomedicine and gain rich exposure that will help lay the foundation for realizing my dream of pursuing a PhD.
WHY DO I NEED YOUR SUPPORT?
Unfortunately, I could not get the confirmation for my research internship until recently. With most scholarship deadlines past, and barely any other finances, I am immobilized by a lack of sufficient funds.
I need an amount of ₹ 2,91,900 (3740 € / 4220 $) in total. The breakdown of the expense is as follows.
1. Travel expenses - ₹ 81,000 (1040 € / 1170 $)
2. Living expenses for 3 months - ₹ 2,10,900 (2700 € / 3050 $)
This amount is a very prodigious amount for a budding Indian researcher coming from a middle class family. Through this campaign, I hope to crowd-source funds at least a part of my expense to support my internship.
This once in a lifetime opportunity will surely empower me to fulfill my future goals and aspirations. Your support will mean a lot to me. Even a small contribution from your end will go a long way in helping me realizing this internship opportunity and in paving my future career path.
I kindly request you to donate whatever you can to help me pursue this research internship at RWTH Aachen, Germany. In the unfortunate case I do not make it there, I assure you, everything will be refunded along with a whole lot of gratitude.
Thank you for time and consideration.
