Krishnaaveni had a troubled childhood as both her parents died before she reached the age of 11. She had to discontinue her studies due to financial problems. An early marriage and the death of her two childern compounded the problem of her. And life gave her no respite as she and her husband were deceived by their relatives and rendered homeless.
With increasing age and week eyesight due to cataract, earning a livelihood became a daily struggle. Thats when the couple came to the helpage elders village. At the village she found a new life and emotonla support.
Some of the elderly in these old age homes are terminally ill patients and find it difficult to do their daily chores. They are provided palliative care to reduce pain and live their last days with dignity.
You could also come forward and support a grandparent with your generous support. More and more destitute elderly, out in the streets, require medical and emotional support. Be the ray of hope in the twilight of their lifes journey.
22 million are widows, a majority are destitute with no income support
less then 10% out of the estimated 90 million elderly have some kind of pension or financial support. The rest are dependent upon family or government /social support.
30% of elderly deaths are on account of lack of medical care.
I am working with SBS & Apanalaya trust since last 2 years. The motto of both trust is helping under privileged people, to improve their standard of living, support for education, medical care.
