While the capital New Delhi and several other cities have been hit hardest limited public healthcare, including a dearth of testing facilities, means the threat is grave in rural areas that are home to nearly 70% of the 1.3 billion population.
Our family, like most others have been hearing of friends and families suffering from the wrath of this disease. We often found both our parents over the phone till the wee hours of the morning helping people both known and unknown with medications, oxygen concentrators, masks and arranging hospital beds.
We have initiated this fund in order to help organizations and hospitals in rural towns and villages with medications, oxygen concentrators and medical kits. We have networked with a pharmaceutical company in India - Good Faith Pharma to help with medications. We have collaborated with Disposafe Health and Lifecare Ltd. for the procurement of 5L oxygen concentrators. Our partners Blue dart, will be providing with courier services.
Research has strongly supported the use of a steroid ( Dexamethasone) in patients requiring oxygen that as been proven to help save lives. The cost of one injection of Dexamethasone is INR 8.40/ 12 cents and the cost of a 4mg tablet is INR 50/ 68 cents. The cost of a 5L oxygen concentrator is INR 44,800/ $ 625 inclusive of all taxes.
To ensure that every penny is spent towards this purpose, we are personally undertaking all the purchases and deliveries. Our goal is to raise $10,000 (INR 7.4 lacs) through this campaign. We need your support! Every contribution directly benefits people in rural India.
