Ameer Khusro Institute of Music running under the management of Sursagar Society of Delhi Gharana, founded in 1940, is actively working towards promotion and preservation of Indian Classical Music. The society is training people in Indian Classical Music for free at Ameer Khusro Institute under the Guru-Shishya parampara. Many of our shagirds are now performing successfully across the globe (see pics). Senior teachers of Dilli Gharana here are giving their services pro bono.
Due to the pandemic, the artist are the worst affected, and the academy has been very difficult to run. The running cost for the academy is a minimum of Rs 25,000 per month, which earlier came from contribution from Gharana artists and from students who could afford to pay, but that has not been sustainable. There have been no shows, and no other source of sustainable income either and it has been difficult to pay the rent for the last 15 months.
We have given ourselves the target of Rs 3,00,000 to cover the costs for the past 15 months. With things opening up now, if we get this initial help, we will be able to run like we did previously.
The academy and Dilli Gharana is committed in giving the best training to people, especially children, in music... and in continuing its efforts towards preservation and promotion of the rich cultural tradition of Indian Classical Music.
You can contribute whatever amount you are comfortable with - every penny counts. Also, please book us for shows, join the academy or let us know if you would like to design a customized music training for you. Let's do anything and everything to keep this traidion alive!
