My name is Pramod Pacher. My sister, Preethi and I are trying to raise funds in order to give our 68 year old father, Vishwanath Pacher, a fighting chance at survival. He’s currently admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, ICU unit, bed number 19.
My father, Vishwanath, suffered a stroke on the 15th of November 2019 at home. We managed to get him to the hospital and were able to get him stabilised there. His right side suffered partial paralysis and was improving slowly with physiotherapy and speech therapy.
We were advised to move him to a reputed hospital in Mahim for a period of two weeks for further rehabilitation in order to help him regain use of his right leg and hand. Due to extreme negligence by the hospital staff there, my father acquired a life threatening, grade IV bedsore, which they hid from us. When we subsequently discovered it, we moved him out of that hospital and rushed him to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. We needed to resort to immediate surgical intervention in order to treat that bedsore and save his life. My father was recovering slowly but steadily, both from the bedsore and the partial paralysis.
However, on the morning of the 19th of February 2020, he aspirated and went into cardiac arrest. The doctors didn’t hold out much hope for survival but my father is extremely strong willed and fought through it all. He’s still in the ICU and on a ventilator but much to the awe of the doctors and nurses at Kokilaben he’s showing remarkable signs of improvement every single day.
He’s always been a fighter and extremely strong willed but also very generous and soft hearted. He didn’t have much but whatever he had he’d give to someone in need, be it family, friend or even an unknown person who came up to him with a sob story. Time and again, Vishwanath went above and beyond to help scores of people with their life problems, be it financial, emotional, legal support etc. You’d always see him around the streets of Bandra, lending a helping hand to people in need or sharing a joke and a hearty laugh with his cronies.
The hospital bills up until now have been 25.6 lakhs and they’re mounting every single day with the current ICU care and ventilator support that my father requires. Until now we’ve managed to pay 15.3 lakhs towards his hospital expenses. My family and I have completely exhausted our life savings and resources. The ICU charges are 50,000 per day. We’re trying to raise at least 15,00,00 for his ongoing medical and hospital expenses.
Please help this vibrant man, a quintessential “Bandra Boy”, who’s given so much to his family, friends and community at large.
