Girls from poor families dropout after 10th class in India. Poverty and lac of higher education or skill development, forces them to stay in villages forcing early marriage and becoming mothers in twenties. Without any specific skills, these girls are left with work of maids - sweeping floors or washing utensils.
In Punjab, District Firozpur, a Zira based NGO, namely 'Village Life Foundation' is trying to create awareness & Develop Skills, of weaker section girls to enable them to earn respectful livelihood.
Since last 3 years, Several girls have been trained and provided with the basic resources of skill development as per PMKVY objective, resulting in women empowerment to make them earning livelihood and supporting their families.
In continuation to that, Now NGO is trying to start a free 'Ladies Tailoring & Stitching Course' in Zira for underprivileged girls as per guidelines of NSDC Delhi.
It will also provide free personality development and basics of computer education along with manners & etiquette classes on the weekends, which help them regain their confidence and compete with modern world.
Prior to Covid-19 and Lockdown period, 4 batches of 70 underprivileged girls have been already trained with free Tuition and Training.
The main aim of this initiative is to make these girls self sufficient, and end practices like child marriage and child labour.
This programme aims at transforming the perception of the people from the underprivileged households / slum areas about girl education and their rights.
Education is the only medium, by which we can provide equality to the girls of our country and make them rely on their own sword.
Together, WE , the affluent class can empower them and make this society a better place to live in.

Educating, Empowering & Enhancing Vocational skills of 20 Girls from economically backward families through Tailoring & Stitching Course.
1- To identify & train 20 potential & interested girls in Tailoring & Stitching
2- To educate & aware girls about personality development & basic computer skills.
3- To provide free Stitching Machine to establish self-business unit
4- To enhance employability skills of trainees
5- To enhance entrepreneurship skills of trainees
6- To take theory and practical test upon completion of course.
7. To Give Certificate in tailoring.
Four Months Basic Class in Tailoring
This is a very useful course designed for girls who wish to go for Ladies tailoring profession.
Here all the basics, of garments stiching for everyday use is taught. Pursuing this course will enable a girl to understand the different aspects of tailoring in a shorter time frame.
