Raghavendra, Raghav, Raghu, Ragi, Rags, Rag’anna’
We never really agreed on what to call him, but we all agreed on the type of person he was. Raghavendra was a loving father, husband, son, friend, colleague and above all a gem of a human.
He passed away on May 21, 2021 after a prolonged battle with Covid - 6 days after his 37th birthday. He fought as hard as he could before his heart succumbed after 15 days. He leaves behind a deeply mourning family: his wife Vidya, 2 kids (ages 6 & 4) and parents well into their 60s. The man that he was, he was supporting his entire family including his in-laws. His life has been brutally cut short.
A non-smoker & teetotaler - he was always for doing the right thing, no matter if that was the hard choice. Only a few things really mattered to him. Family & friends. His work. And Hrithik Roshan - probably the biggest fan. His home was plastered with Hrithik’s photos, and he always ensured we go to Hrithik’s movies, settling for nothing less than the first day first show.
He was a very private person and had great expectations for his children He wanted to see them as doctors, or any other profession they had their heart in. He was building a corpus to that end, until he met his untimely end.
There are 7 people directly dependent on him - something Vidya will now have to take over. She has a hard road ahead. She married Raghavendra soon after her graduation and has never really 'worked'. She is understandably shattered, and clueless about how to take up the baton. She is taking this a day at a time and the premise of ensuring a great future for the children is keeping her strong. The hardest question she endures every day is from her kids: “When is appa coming back?”. They haven’t yet been told - and nobody really knows how to land the message with a 6 year old and a 4 year old that their father - their hero - is never coming back.
From a happy, content family to a deeply mourning family in 2 weeks. While nobody can really ever fulfill the void in their lives, as friends and family, the least we can do is to come together and contribute to safeguard the family’s future and honour Raghavendra’s memory and legacy. No contribution is big or small - please pitch in whatever you can to help.
Funds collected will be utilized to build a corpus for the kids' education and help equip Vidya with skills + credentials needed for continued sustenance of the family.
