Story

National award-winning composer, Vanraj Bhatia has had his luck totally scratched away from him. He says he doesn’t even have “one rupee left” in his account.

Vanraj Bhatia won National Award for Best Music in 1988 for Govind Nihalani's Tamas. He was also honored with a Padma Shri in 2012.

Now, he is 92 years old and is suffering from hearing loss, knee pain and bouts of memory loss. He says he has no money left to battle old-age ailments.

His only company at this age is his domestic help. He has no option but to sell off his imported crockery to survive. His house help says he hasn’t sought medical consultation in a long time. And so, it would difficult to say what exactly the condition is now. His house help has been around him for a decade.
