We are all shocked and sadden by the sudden demise of our friend Dr. A.K.Vivekandan. He is survived by his wife and two young children, daughter aged 6 and son aged 4.
Vivek did his MBBS from MMC (98 batch). He then joined government service and then did his post graduation in ENT from MMC. He was a frontline worker during the COVID first wave in April/May/June. He had COVID himself and he was hospitalised in July. He recovered from this and went back to work serving his community in Pallipattu hospital and loving the job he always wanted to do.
Unfortunately on the 22nd of November whilst he was working he complained of chest pain and collapsed. He was taken by an ambulance to the nearest GH and was pronounced dead on arrival.
Dr Vivekanandan joined state Government service after 2002 and so his family will not receive any Pension or lump sum payments.
His wife is unemployed and she has to support her two children on her own with education and other expenses.
Our fundraising attempt is to give them the same quality of life as much possible if the Covid Warrior— Dr Vivekanadan was around.
