Power to empower a life: A little help goes a long way

COVID 19 impacted many lives all across the globe, in India a series of lock-downs took place leading to a fall in employment for many people. This was a big blow to many middle-income groups, however, people belonging to the lower-income groups were severely affected by it.

Kanti Bai a lady from slums before lock-down used to work as a maid in different houses, however when lock-down took place she lost her job & was forced to roam in search for a new job in order to feed her family. Being a single mother of 2 children she had no rest for any day other than look out for new job. One lucky day she met Vaishnavi, a young enthusiastic girl who wants to provide better livelihood to underprivileged women. She and Kanti Bai became good friends.  Vaishnavi decides to enrol her with silai course as Vaishnavi herself had brought a change in her life after doing a beautician course. She had been able to set her own beauty parlor after doing a course from an NGO. After a period of 6 months Vaishnavi met Kanti, was surprised to see a positive change in her life as now Kanti Bai opened her own Tailoring shop making masks, stitching garments for the public & not only this she also enrolled 3 other women in NGO for silai training and simultaneously providing them employment in her shop.  Thus not just earning but also providing employment opportunities to other women.

Like Vaishnavi and Kanti Bai, you can also be a saviour to many such women, with your support we at Jan Sharnam can provide skill based training in silai and beautician course to more women like Kanti Bai and Vaishnavi to our newly introduced beautician course along with silai training to more women to create employment among these women. But to complete this we have some requirements without which it shall not be possible like setting up a beauty parlour for training and silai machines for training women
