Both my parents are high school teachers working in remote villages of Maharashtra, India. Having seen the plight of these students, I was appalled by their surroundings and wanted to help them whichever way I could. I paid the scholarship fees of 5 students in 2019 and one of them managed to pass with good grades despite her unfavorable background. It surprised me that all 5 students who appeared for the exam were girls. This has really inspired me to take a step further and offer an annual scholarship to those girls who miss out by a small margin. I'm afraid the post-Covid situation may not motivate enough girls to appear for competitive exams due to a lack of support from home. This initiative will award annual scholarships to the top few candidates and guidance (workshops/study material/application filing) to prospective candidates. In 2019-20, we helped 5 students appear for the exam, and in 2021, 2 of our 20 students have achieved success with Govt scholarship. I would be happy to connect you with them as they are directly in my contact. A small help (even like sharing this message) could go way beyond what you could imagine🙂

Q. Why #DiyaForHer and not any other campaign to support girl education?
Ans: The specialty of this program lies in direct connection with rural India. My parents have been teaching & administrating in government schools (Zilla Parishad, Waluj and New High School, Kingaon) for the last 31 years and are directly involved in students' academic growth. This program is one of the simplest ways of Direct Benefit Transfer. Furthermore, the NMMS scholarship is designed for grade 8 students with weaker economic backgrounds, who if selected, will be inspired to appear again in grade 9 and grade 10 for MTSE and NTSE scholarships. This will improve their chances of achieving something significant in their lives. Also, the scholarship recipients will inspire other girls and make this a sustaining initiative.Q. Can I get the list of students and their scores who are getting benefitted from this campaign?
Ans: We will be regularly publishing the exam results, candidate profiles, and the scholarship amount they are receiving through this initiative. If interested, I can share their contact details with you and you can directly connect with them. Every year we will update the list of students depending on their ranks in NMMS (National Means — Cum — Merit) and MTSE (Maharashtra Talent Search Exam)

Q. What percentage of my donations do you use for administrative etc. purposes?
Ans: Currently 100% of the donation is being used for scholarship purposes since it's being done on a small scale.
Q: There are so many people, how can we help everyone?
Ans: Yes. We probably cannot help everyone. Even if we help one, it makes a huge difference to that one!
