Story

Underprivileged children face unimaginable adversities in various areas of their lives from a very young age. With the worsening situation of the pandemic, we realise that a lot of children are suffering mentally, but do not have adequate resources or opportunities to cope with the stress or seek professional help. Therefore, we feel it is important to do whatever we can to help these children in terms of their emotional/mental well-being, during such unprecedented times.

We would be grateful for your support in any form. Even the smallest contribution matters. If you are not in the position to donate, you can help us out by sharing our story with as many people as you can.

What is Roohani?

Roohani is a programme launched by Tournesols in collaboration with Sanshil Foundation - Bagiya to provide a series of expressive arts therapy sessions to underprivileged students so as to offer them a creative outlet to deal with stress and anxiety, especially in such unprecedented times. The sessions aim to create a safe space for children to express themselves freely by engaging them in exciting, interactive activities.

Why Expressive Arts Therapy?

Expressive arts therapy makes use of talk therapy and multiple psychological disciplines along with different art modalities such as movement, writing, drawing, music, etc. It employs creative processes to promote emotional growth and self-expression. The focus of our sessions will be to help the children build resilience to cope with multiple challenges that they are forced to deal with on a daily basis.

Use of Funds

We aim to generate Rs. 35,000 by the 25th of July, 2021. The funds will be used to cover the charges of the Expressive Arts Therapy Sessions as well as to provide stationery items (drawing books, colour pencils, crayons) and data (internet packs) for the students to attend the online sessions. They will help a batch of 25 students at Bagiya (Sanshil Foundation) in the NCR.
