    Underprivileged children

    from Gurugram, Haryana

The Helping Hand has collaborated with Sugam NGO to help the children of the underprivileged. The Indian schooling framework in rural areas has fallen dramatically in the past few years. The school education in rural India is mostly dependent on Government and Government aided schools. For rural India,  the journey of education is not easy, children from rural areas face many challenges till they finish their education. The Helping Hand has embraced Project Saraswati alongside Sugam NGO to provide the children living in the rural areas with quality education.

To the naked eye, the virus has been indiscriminate. It has affected both the young and the old, rich and poor. A darker reality, however, has simultaneously emerged. It is the poverty-stricken people who were hit the most by the pandemic. India’s most privileged students just experienced a temporary blimp. High-income schools across the country have mobilized networks and resources to conduct online classes.

For India’s most impoverished children, the four walls of the classroom are their only pathway for a better life. For some, it is a space to seek solace from the chaos at home. These children are losing valuable learning time which is essential for them to succeed. The importance of education in life is immense. It facilitates quality learning to people throughout their life. It inculcates knowledge, belief, skill, values and moral habits. It improves the way of living and raises the social and economic status of individuals.A well established education system in rural communities has the opportunity to build capacity and knowledge in the rural populace, helping them to make informed decisions about their farms and to innovate in agricultural affairs. Education also exposes the masses to information and helps prevent the misinterpretation of information

Well said by Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world”. To elaborate, it is the foundation of the society which brings economic wealth, social prosperity and political stability. It gives power to people to put their views and showcase their real potential.
Our target is to spread mindfulness about the significance of education of the oppressed and how country schools have defeated the pandemic.

This venture additionally aims to raise funds for the NGO, to give better learning facilities. We plan to do so by providing the rural classrooms with Smart Boards to enhance and improve their learning experience. Using smart technology in the classroom can help raise test scores, improve student learning, enhance literacy, boost attentiveness, and increase comprehension. Teachers report that the number one benefit that they see in classrooms that use Smart Boards is an increase in student engagement gives an improved learning experience.

The need for technology was never this crucial in schools and other educational institutions as it is today. The uncertain times that we all live in has forced businesses to think out-of-the-box and deploy strategies that are “unconventional”. The advent of smart boards in classrooms has revolutionized learning in schools. Educational Institutions these days are replacing the overhead projector and using smartboard technology to make the class fun and more interactive.

Some of the key advantages of smart boards are -
  • Enhance Student's Learning Experience: They not only improve the way teachers teach, but also enhance the way students learn. It provides an enriched learning experience for students by projecting visual elements. Learning with a smart board's help is much more straightforward because teachers can accommodate different learning styles. The touch screen option allows teachers and students to run programs with a tap of their finger. Technology improves the learning environment because of student's potential to view graphs, maps, images, and more in a classroom on a large screen. Their learning experience becomes lively and it is more enjoyable to study than ever before.
  •  Low Maintenance: It is effortless to use smart boards and it requires very little maintenance. No chalk or paints get used on the boards ; either the finger or a special pen is used, which is also hassle-free.
  • Inter-active: Perhaps one of the smart board's biggest strengths is their potential to make the classroom more interactive.
  • Allow Technology Integration: The potential for technological convergence is one of the many advantages of smart boards. Teachers can connect their monitors, video cameras, digital cameras, microscopes, and almost everything else you can think of to assist while teaching.
Smart boards help in building smart schools. Smart school is a concept which uses technologies or some modern equipment in the classrooms which enables in giving a better learning experience to the students. This also helps in attracting more students to the school and helps in reducing dropouts. Introducing smart school systems will help in making education more interesting as everything will be taught with images and videos which make the class more interactive, and the learning experience more fruitful. For our country’s growth, we require a well-educated population, equipped with the relevant knowledge, attitude and skills. This can be achieved by spreading awareness about the importance of education in rural areas.

There is a famous saying that “If we feed one person, we will eliminate his hunger for only one time. But, if we educate a person, we will change his entire life”. Henceforth he will become capable of earning a livelihood by himself.
A well educated nation makes a great nation. Let us take the uneducated towards the light of education and glow the glory of our nation. Let’s make our country more powerful by power of knowledge, i.e. education, to quote Francis Bacon: “Knowledge is power.”
