Since March 2021 world’s worst COVID outbreak has taken over in India, in both urban cities and rural communities. The trunks of cars have been converted into makeshift hospital beds and mass crematoriums have been set up in the capitol. Individuals are turning to the black market to secure basic medical supplies such as oxygen. Family members are frantically searching for ICU beds for loved ones, only to be turned away. And public health officials warn that it will only get worse.
With a severe deficit in supplies overwhelming our healthcare system, and the government’s inability to match the demand for medical care such as oxygen, hospital beds, and medicines, we are now depending on individuals to come to their aid
This urgent, time-sensitive need has called for a redirection of PKU Care Foundation’s efforts to focus on helping those most vulnerable to COVID in slum and rural areas, where very little governmental aid is being directed and few to no resources provided. PKU Care is calling on all those who are able to donate, with PKU mobilizing all funds received for procuring and distributing free multivitamins, medicine, respiratory devices, cooked food, dry ration packs and also providing free cremation assistance services.
Please help, we cannot fight this crisis without you. Even INR 100 will make all the difference in saving an individual’s life.
