In the month of August, the districts of sangli and kolhapur suffered from mega floods. a lot of lives were lost, houses were destroyed, cattle died and also the crops were destroyed . Umeed foundation has launched a campaign to help one such village in kolhapur district. Ghalwad is one of those villages which were struck by mega floods and the entire village was under water. As diwali is nearing e aim to celebrate diwali with the village and celebrate a spirit of indian-ness by providing them with blankets.sweaters, food grains,ethnic wear etc. the main focus will be farmers and mahila bachat gaths . as 80% of the population of ghalwad village is dependant on agriculture, animal husbandry and labour work.We will provide some financial and physical help to such people to start fresh and help them sustain financially as they can't always rely on external help for living.
