Ujjwal’s father passed away when he was just 2 weeks old. He stays with his mother, elder sister and elderly grandmother who is mostly ill. The entire responsibility of the family is on the shoulders of his young widow mother who is barely making ends meet all these years.
Ujjwal’s mother used to work as a helper in preparing lunch boxes for a few years. The family was getting little financial assistance from Ujjwal’s maternal uncle, but after his death, that too has stopped.
Ujjwal’s mother has thus been forced to look for more work and now works as a caretaker in a full day shift. But even with a better salary, most of her earnings are spent in paying medical bills of the grandmother. Not to mention she is mostly away for work and unable to look after the child's education in these formative years.
Need To Include In Happy Kids Program of Ra Foundation:
Ujjwal is a bright child and very mature and responsible for his age. He dutifully helps his mother in all the household chores to lighten her workload. He has been doing well at his current school.
However, As the mother is mostly away from home for her work, the elder sister is away at college, and the grandmother being ill, there is nobody to take care of him and help with studies.
If given a chance of quality education in a reputed residential school, Ujjwal is bound to flourish. The change of environment from the daily struggles in the community to a nurturing environment dedicated purely to developing the child’s academic and extracurricular potential is what is needed to nurture Ujjwal and give him a chance to uplift himself and his family.
About Ra Foundation:
We are a Mumbai based; registered NGO; which works in collaboration with Akanksha Foundation, CORP and Teach for India to provide quality education to talented & deserving children, coming from underprivileged and vulnerable backgrounds.
Our “Happy Kids Program” is currently supporting 45 kids who are enrolled in our partner residential schools. These schools provide academic training par excellence and also focus on the extra-curricular activities for overall personality development.
In addition to this, we ensure the well-being of children with regular health checks and psychological counselling. The families of the children are also involved to ensure a well-nurtured environment for the child at home.
And all this at a minimal administrative cost, so as to utilize maximum funds for benefit of the children.
Ujjwal has been part of Happy Kids Program since 2018 and is enrolled in St.Xaviers School in Panchgani. He is currently in the IX standard and is doing really well at the school.
We at Ra Foundation are in need of funds to pay for his school fees and other day-to-day expenses.
Help us make a difference in a child's life and give them the ultimate gift of quality education.
