This is Tushar Kulkarni from Mumbai, India. I am raising funds to help support the genetic work that I am doing of giraffe in zoos in India. This study will help to find what species and subspecies of giraffe we have in India. This information is extremely crucial for the zoos to plan their breeding and exchange programs to produce viable offspring and avoid hybrid calves.
I, along with my partners, have already completed Mitochondrial DNA study of giraffe of Zoological Garden Alipore, Kolkata where we found out that the giraffes at the zoo are Nubian Giraffe. I had an opportunity to present this work at 2019 International Giraffid Conference at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Ohio, USA, last year.
I am now planning to undertake similar work for other zoos in India which hold giraffes, to find out what species / subspecies they are. I am raising partial funds amounting to USD 1200, as I am falling short of this amount.
I would be truly grateful if you can help us with any suitable amount that you feel for this study. I shall have you/your organisation listed as supporter and donor for this work in the documentation and publication.
I look for your valuable support to enable us to undertake this study which will benefit the giraffes in zoos in India.
Thanking you in advance.
