Ramnagar (Nainital) -Help Bring Health Equipment for Injured Animals
The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. -Mahatma Gandhi
Ramnagar (Nainital) is popularly and proudly known for the Corbett National Park, the very first wildlife reserve of India, which protect and is home to tigers, elephants, chitals, sambar, nilgai and many more. But on the other side it holds the unseen and painful stories lying on the streets of this town.
Injured and pregnant animals, whether it’s from street or someone’s beloved pet, including dogs, cows, horses, mules etc. suffer in pain due to non-availability of diagnostic equipment like X- ray, ultrasound etc, which results in improper treatment .
Interestingly, in this small city there is only one veterinary hospital and only one veterinary doctor with limited staff that do their best do treat animals but due to non availability of operation theater (OT), emergency treatment facilities and shelter, this ultimately cost injured animals lives. Also, there is no facility available within 150 Km radius around the city.
Though the state animal husbandry department makes tall claim about welfare of animals and for improvement in the infrastructure of veterinary hospitals but these claims are not withstanding as hospitals and dispensaries still lacks basic facilities required for treatment of animals in Ramnagar and area nearby (Uttarakhand).
Animals may not say in words but they do suffer in pain and its heart-breaking when we have to see a life dying only because we don’t have facility to treat them.
All creatures deserve a life free from fear and pain.
This give us GOAL-
Please feel kindness and empathy towards the animals in need and pain, and DONATE.
Someone said- Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remain unawaken.

Story of One Invisible Street Dog (Part I)- I found her on the street in January, in extreme cold. She was in very severe condition. She was with her 3 new born babies feeding on the roadside when a car ran over her babies and hit her back. She had spinal injury with suppressed nerves. Her both hind legs were not working. I brought her to my home to provide her a safe place as she was in pain and cold shock. I was too scared to touch her at that time. I took her to Ramnagar Veterinary Hospital and again same old thing “no treatment possible here”, “take her to other hospital”, “we don’t have facility for this kind of case”, “only painkillers and antibiotics”.
“Just hear her crying. Can we really pretend to unheard her? Or can we really be so insensitive to avoid her? Do we humans have really lost all our sensitivity/ human touch?” Just think once and still if you don’t find answer, then keep thinking.”
She was fully visible dog crying in pain on the roadside for more than 15 days, which was completely invisible to the whole crowd passing by her.
And this is the story of only one street dog covered by me. There are thousands of animals on the streets like her, which are just invisible to us.
