I'm a fellow representative of a non profitable NGO named FOR THE OTHER BEINGS, working towards the basic necessities of the animals (esp cats and dogs) in our society. We aim to tend to every animal and bird in need with all the requirements possible. The only thing we expect in return are wagging tails, fill stomachs and wet noses. We are a pune based NGO. The areas we cover are Aundh, Baner, Shivaji Nagar, Camp, Koregaon Park, Pune university Pimple nilakh, Bt kawade road, Vishrantwadi, Pimple gurav, Lohegaon, Kondhwa, NIBM, Salunkhe Vihar, Wanowrie and we are trying to reach out to as much part of Pune as possible.
FTOB started as a small individual group tending to the needs of animals around the area we live in ,now we have extented our zone and since we are all students we fall short monetarily. Generating funds and asking for donor's help aid in our motive greatly. There has been an increase from 40 K to 2.5 lakhs in the number of stray dogs in Pune in the last 7 years and at the same time there has been massive escalation in deaths of stray cats and dogs on the streets.
Many puppies do not make it to their first birthday due to innumerable health issues, mother dogs aren't able to tend to the huge litter and due to the ever increasing number of strays, neutering and spaying has become the need of the hour. Car accidents leave families stranded, dehydration and starvation has so long been killing the strays. There have been many cases of relocation of dogs and other conflicts with human where they have poisoned the litter. In order to prevent cruelty and keep them healthy, the dogs require to be sterilized.
We at FTOB had started initiatially with feeding the stray cats and dogs on a large scale, due to the lockdown and shutting down of shops, these strays weren't able to procure food for themselves. We have grown as a team and alongwith nutrition, we rescue and sterilize the strays too. Neutering and spaying them is prime criteria for their health. Putting up reflective collars around their neck to prevent road accidents is also being carried out. Treating dogs with distemper, rabies and other ailments requires funds. Sterlizing cats and dogs and their post operative care requires a lot of monetary help too.
We are glad to have so many new volunteers joining us for this auspicious cause and the whole team of FTOB would like to request to contribute in any little way, it would mean the world to us and we would be able to continue our work without obstruction.
Regardless of you having a pet or not, do your bit towards the less fortunate dogs and cats who do not have a roof for themselves.
Our NGO just got registered last month and we are hoping to grow into this field and do our bit towards the loving creatures.
