The Corona virus pandemic has socially and financially crippled the families of daily wage earners. The lockdown has disproportionately affected them and made their lives miserable. Their sources of livelihood have broken down, leaving them vulnerable and dependent on external support even for food and basic supplies.
We are four citizens collaborating with Kartavya Welfare Organisation (KWO) in order to address this situation and distribute ration kits to vulnerable families. KWO is a Katihar-based NGO that works with the most vulnerable communities.
We have prioritised five pockets (slums, Mahadalit tolas and villages with high minority populations) for intervention - Bourni, Chouhan Tola, Mushar Tola, Budhel and Ramnagar. Our campaign aims to provide ration kits to 400 such families in need, at least 10% of which should include pregnant ladies. Each kit costs around Rs. 500 and contains essentials like rice, pulses, soap, mask, soybean chunks (Horlicks, fruits and eggs in case of families with pregnant ladies).
Our fellow human beings are struggling for survival. We must come together and help!
