Hello everyone, I am Akash Upase and I have been volunteering with the Blue Ribbon Movement (BRM) for 4 years now. BRM is investing in the next generation leaders who are building communities through civic change. My journey with BRM started by being a fellow of the Community Connect Fellowship(CCF). The fellowship program has helped 350+ youth to solve more than 6700 civic complaints in Mumbai. Post the fellowship, I have continued volunteering for CCF by mentoring and facilitating the last 5 batches of the fellowship. Volunteering at BRM has helped me to contribute to society in a meaningful way and made me realize that volunteerism is the way to bring about long term systemic change in society.

The various initiatives at BRM are:

• The Community Connect Fellowship: Building active citizenship in youth through solving civic issues. 380+ fellows 6000+ civic complaints 60% complaints addressed. Voted 2nd best initiative globally at The World Forum for Democracy.
• The Fools' Forum: Collaborative citizen events. 700+ individuals connecting 40+ alternative communities in Mumbai
• Channel 5: Listening spaces in COVID times. Benefitted 180+ participants
• Other events: Learning circles with thought leaders. 10+ circles
