Hi you wonderful people,
I am Tessa and I moved to Bangalore two weeks ago. Today as I was coming back from office, I was trying to get an Uber but no one would drop me. Finally this really pleasant auto guy agreed to drop me. After the usual bargaining I got into his auto. I started talking to him and asked him if it was his last trip for the day because it was 9 pm by then, he quietly turned around and earnestly looked at me and said, "Ma'am I cannot take a break until 1-2 am because I lost my leg and do not have any other source of income". I was shocked to say the least. My auto driver Abjal used to work at a restaurant in Bangalore making biriyani where he used to get paid Rs.20,000. He had some nerve damage to his leg. His family took him to 3 hospitals after which the doctor finally amputated his leg at the thigh. So regular prosthetics would not work for him. He was in and out of the hospital for 4 years. He was fired from the restaurant because he was an amputee and started driving the auto. He has a wife and 3 young kids in school.
So I want to try and help him get a good quality prosthetic. I will post more medical records as soon as I visit him this weekend but please try to contribute even the smallest amount that you can!
Any leads on a decent job that he can do would be appreciated :)
