My husband Tapas Dasgupta, a 48-year-old loving person is fondly known as "Babai". He is a caring husband, a loving father and a helping friend. He was employed with an advertising agency as a sales and marketing person based out of Bhubaneswar.

We were a very jovial family. Suddenly life has made a U-Turn when my husband got diagnosed with acute kidney malfunctioning. He was diagnosed with a very high creatinine level (10.0 milligrams per decilitre)  and acute kidney injury. Tapas was admitted several times to Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar and later he got consultation from AMRI, Bhubaneswar for higher and better care. He has been on 100% family support.

Our finances including personal and corporate insurances and cash reserves are running very low and dry to continue his treatment. I am a housewife with a 7-year-old student son and have no clue how to continue funding for my husband’s treatment.

We have already incurred 7 lacs including cash and insurance for his treatment so far and we have no insurance now. Doctors at both Apollo, Bhubaneswar and AMRI, Bhubaneswar have suggested Kidney transplantation. It is estimated that he will have at least a month’s stay in the hospital, the estimated expenditure to be about 16-20 lacs. It has now become essential to his survival.

Another big financial problem has come as Tapas has been laid off from his job due to COVID. So our family has no income now. In addition, we are facing the tremendous financial burden of my husband's kidney transplantation. I, myself, have decided to donate one of my kidneys to save my family and save my husband and save my son.

We want him to survive, and this comes with a huge financial burden and stress. He is the only son of his parents both of whom have passed away. He is also the sole bread earner of his family.

The projected costs involved in the operation are:
1.) ICU and Surgery charges at the hospital - 14 Lacs
2.) Ward charges - 4.50 Lacs
3.) Ventilation & Miscellaneous - Can’t really put a number to it.

4.)Estimated treatment duration: 1 month and upwards.
Estimated Cost (Minimum): Rs 16-20 lacs and upwards
