Surendra was leading a life of contentment with his wife in his home town Kishangarh until June last year when he experienced slight discomfort in his mouth. Thinking it's just a normal problem, he decided to consult Dr. Vijay Gakhar, ENT specialist at a hospital in Ajmer. Dr. Gakhar asked Surendra to get some tests done and meanwhile prescribed him some medicines. The medicines showed its effect and his discomfort almost subsided, but not for too long. The re-emergence of the problem was worrisome for Surendra, as he could sense the reason behind it. Also, he only had his wife to support him both emotionally and financially. With the name of God, he decided to get him checked again and contacted Dr. Vijay Gakhar. Unfortunately, he was informed about the chances of having Mouth Cancer, with the possibilities of getting cured with the right treatment. Avoiding any delays, he consulted a different doctor at Mahavir Cancer Hospital in Jaipur, with the recommendation of his acquaintances.
The consulting doctor at the hospital recommended surgery as the only potential cure to Surendra’s problem, but lack of funds could not make that possible. Not losing hope, he went to Mahatma Gandhi Medical Hospital where he was informed about the requirement of Rs. 150000/- for the surgery. It almost seemed impossible for both Surendra and his wife to manage such a big amount within the given time, and they decided to return back home. A ray of hope came in when one of their relatives introduced an NGO to Surendra, where he could reach out for a better solution. As soon as they made the NGO aware of Surendra’s agony, their team immediately provided support and admitted him to Mahatma Gandhi Medical College for treatment.
