We are a group of well-wishers trying to support the education of a former colleague’s two children after his sudden death.
Anusuya (9 years) and Vijay (11 years) are young, bright children of Ramesh, a former assistant at our organisation's (Digital Green) office in Hyderabad, India.
During the early hours of the 15th of June 2020, Ramesh passed away due to complications with his diabetic foot. The already raging covid pandemic meant that he couldn’t access necessary medical support when he needed it, and he couldn’t be saved. He was about 43 years of age and is survived by his wife (Balamani) and the two young children.
The family survived on the meager income from Ramesh’s job at our office, and a part-time job at a clinic that he worked in during the evenings. With his passing, the family now faces a serious financial instability.
Despite earnest attempts, we weren’t able to try and secure a job for his wife. Although Ramesh and Balamani only received minimum school-education, they have struggled to ensure that their children went to school. With Ramesh’s death, their children's education has become a financial burden for the family.
All of us who have worked with Ramesh remember him as a hard-working, committed and soft-spoken person. We are very aware of how much effort he put in to ensure that his children remain in school.
We have decided to do our best to ensure that Anusuya and Vijay continue to have access to education. We have pooled together some resources for this amongst ourselves, but are also aware that we do not want our limits to affect the children’s prospects, and every penny helps.
This is why we are reaching out to you. Any support you provide will help support their education, and empower Ramesh’s family. We request you to kindly do your bit.
