With Covid, lockdown and loss of jobs, more and more people have been abandoning their dogs to the mercy of the streets all over the world, and especially in India. As it is, we are famed for having a large number of street dogs because of lack of funds for getting many of the dogs spayed. With our humble resources, a few of us have started feeding a few street dogs in our area, Mandaveli in Chennai. First couple of days we had one or two dogs. Then we started keeping bowls of dog food and water outside and noticed that more dogs started to arrive, knowing that there was food. Right now there are around nine dogs that are being fed. We feed them with pedigree kibble and wet pedigree chicken. A few stray cats have also joined the fray and they also eat the same food. Some of these dogs are spayed and some are not. Part of the funds collected will go towards getting them spayed and also for the general check up of the street dogs at a nearby hospital.
Whoever donates, we will share with you the exact breakup of how your funds are being used, scanned copies of the bills, medical reports of spaying, for whichever dogs are spayed, and photos of the dogs being fed regularly. We are also taking inputs from a dog trainer in Chennai to ensure that we are providing the correct quality and quantity of food.
