    Stray Dogs

    from Bengaluru, Karnataka

Hello, everyone!!!
We are a group of animal lovers based out of  Bangalore and have been feeding and taking care of the health of the stray dogs in our locality for about 5 years now.

Today, the coronavirus (COVID-19) has taken a toll on all our lives. We hear stories of nature healing herself but thatโ€™s not the case everywhere. Dogs that have grown accustomed to depending on human beings for their day-to-day survival are losing their lives. Hungry dogs with flesh clinging to their ribs, fighting for a single morsel of bread or meat, are becoming common in urban streets. While all of us sit indoors and practice social distancing, the animals that are dependent on us are dying. Dogs that lived near once crowded markets now have no place to call home, no friendly vendor to throw him food, no stranger to rub his head and wag his tail at.
During the recent lockdown, we started to feed the dogs of nearby localities, we have been self-funding this all these years but need your support now to help provide help to more dogs. With your help, we aim to prevent such unfortunate situations and give them a better quality of life. The funds that we receive will be used for the following activities-
1. Sterilization: Sterilizing the female dogs will give them a chance at having a healthier life, reduce the risk of ovarian and breast cancer, relieve them of the distress of losing their children, help us curb overpopulation, and prevent unwanted accidents which could take the lives of newborn pups. Further, it would also help us limit the spread of infectious diseases which could be potentially fatal and/or expensive to treat if we could control the population of dogs.
Sterilizing the male dogs would enrich their health, reduce the risk of testicular and prostate cancer, and prevent unwanted and aggressive behavior that would benefit the community.
Many of these dogs live and breed inside hostels, leading to overcrowding, giving rise to various difficulties.
2. Feeding: As of now, we feed them a mixture of chicken, rice &  pedigree 3.Treatment and Vaccination: We deworm the dogs and provide special care and medications for the old and injured dogs. We also rescue and help relocate the rescued dogs.

High-level fund utilization breakup:
Feeding  Expenses: 60%
Medicinal Expenses: 30%
Miscellaneous Expenses: 10%

I will be sharing bi-monthly updates every month here.
