We, Kavya, Vignesh and Rajashekhar joined "Waste supply chain management" course at Baduku Centre for Livelihoods Learning, A programme of Samavada. Here we were taught about different types of wastes, wastes sources, waste segregation and recycling as whole of waste management. At this juncture, we realize that low value plastic especially single use plastic has no proper disposal option. Thus we started our research to find other treatment/recycling option for single use plastic disposal. With the technical support from Neshaju Envirotech Pvt Ltd, we developed a low cost Pyrolysis system for producing alternate fuel from plastic waste.
What is Plastic Pyrolysis?
Plastic Pyrolysis is a chemical reaction that involves molecular breakdown of larger molecules into smaller molecules, through the process of heating them.
Pyrolysis is also called Thermal Cracking, Thermolysis, Depolymerization, etc. It is a process used to turn plastic into liquid oil, by heating it in absence of oxygen.
The process helps us in two ways, firstly, it creates fuel and secondly, it gets rid of plastic, which helps us reduce non-recyclable waste.

1: Plastic Pyrolysis for converting waste palstic into fuel.
2: Acts a place of learning on Plastic Pyrolysis concepts for the students and general public.
We would like to solve below major issues in the area through our work
a) Help communities in the urban areas people manage their plastic waste effectively.
b) Provide employment opportunities to the people in the surrounding villages.
c) Engage with rag pickers to collect plastic waste (single use/films) and increase thier daily income.
What We Need:
We require the following things to develop and operate the Plastic Pyrolysis unit.
PARTICULARS AMOUNT (in INR)
FACTORY SHED 250000
PYROLYSIS UNIT 550000
COOLING TOWER 210000
SOLAR SYSTEM 350000
HEATING UNIT 150000
EV FOR COLLECTION 350000
STORAGE TANK 50000
Plastic Agglomerator 150000
Total. Rs.20,60,000
