Story

To bring gender equality in India, I have been using my knowledge and studies to help the marginalized and the less privileged women in India. For the last 3 years, I have been offering free legal assistance to the needy and writing articles to raise awareness to make the law accessible to all. I have been taking initiatives for the economic upliftment of women and children in Rajasthan through market fairs, training programs, and career counseling sessions. My work was also appreciated at the 9th GAJE Conference held in Mexico attended by 150 delegates worldwide.

I completed BBA.LL.B. from National Law University, Jodhpur with First Rank every semester and 8.97/10 CGPA. I was also awarded Seven Gold Medals for my academic excellence.

At the law school, I was a part of the Legal Aid and Awareness Committee. As the Head of the Committee from 2016 to 2018, I headed an empirical study on the implementation of the Right to Education Act 2009 in 109 schools of Jodhpur, and its findings were also presented before the High Court. We also adopted a nearby village and worked for its development through community-building campaigns. Personally, I launched a stitching course for the female residents of the village, and also got sanitary pad vending machines installed in a local government school. Capturing my interactions with the local people, I also prepared a documentary showcasing the normalized discriminatory mindsets towards women which was screened at the University.

To create larger impacts, I have applied for an LLM in Law and Gender at SOAS, University of London, the only University in the world that offers specialization in this category. Considering my brilliant academic score and the work I have done in the past; I have received an acceptance offer from the university. The tuition fee for the course is 23,680 pounds sterling (GBP).
None of it was easy, especially when you lose your only source of strength in the middle of law school, viz., your father. My father expired in 2015. Since then, life has been very hard. Yet, I persisted, I worked hard, I pushed my limits, hoping that he is watching from the sky.

But today, I feel helpless. Whatever little resources my mother has are consumed in the management of the house, day-to-day expenses, and medical and emergency needs. Others constantly ask me to think and dream within limits. Time and again, even the need to do this course has been questioned. I am constantly pressurized to get married as it is the ‘appropriate’ time for the same. I feel frustrated, as I see myself becoming the victim of the very practices that I seek to challenge through pursuing this course.

Upon my return to India, I wish to restart my legal practice, continue writing, and start my own think-tank to bridge the gap between the Indian economy and women. With the right opportunities and your support, I can fulfill my dreams and bring positive change to the lives of thousands of other people.

Your smallest contributions can make the largest differences, so donate what you can.

This fight is not just for me, but for every girl who is made to believe that the purpose of life is marriage and children, who are made to compromise with her dreams, who is without any support system.
