Story

Somanath Mishra has been fighting a dreadful, life threatening cancer. He did not know it until he got a huge unbearable backpain, when he tested he got to know he is having Lungs Cancer as well as there is a growing tumour near to his spinal cord which is cancerous in nature.
Due to that cancerous tumour near his spinal cord, it is blocking the nerves to his right hand which led to paralysis of his right hand. Fortunately he was taken to hospital at the right time, the temporary paralysis is partially recovered. There is a high risk in operating both these as the cancer is in the last stage.
His only hope to live is the Immuno Therapy. He has already reached the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai to begin the treatment process. However, this therapy is estimated to cost Rs 65,00,000.

He is a retired SBI Bank Employee. He has already beat cancer once before 6 years when he got mouth cancer, he went thorugh surgeries to save himself. After 6 years he is now suffering with this aggressive disease again, this time the condition being very serious. He is now fighting to save his life. Please help this Cancer warrior to become a Cancer Champion.

Please contribute and share this campaign. Lets unite to fight cancer. Let us make it possible for him to get treated. He along with his family need all your blessings and support during this critical time of his.

Watch his Story

He was a very happy person with a happy family having 2 childern, when mouth cancer hit him like a thunder bolt in early 2014 and threated to take everything away- his family, his stable job in State Bank of India, his entire identity. After the initial shock he started his fightback with Chemotherapy in Tata Memorial Hospital, Bombay. The path was very tough and full of hurdles but his organization helped and supported him during his time of need, which served as a boon to him.

He went though the surgery successfully and beaten cancer. After that he was under regular checkups and visits to doctor for it to not recurr for almost 6 years. He was assured now he doesnot have to deal with the life threatning disease. There were no symptoms for 6 years until one day he started feeling sever backpain and went to checkup, doctors identified a huge growing tumour which is growing in size in his back side of neck. After doing due tests they suspect the origin from Lungs.
The doctors are still unsure whether it is originated from Lungs or somewhere else, which is under reserach as they feel this is a very rare case, where they are unsure about the proper origin of cancerous cells.
He has become too weak, unable to sleep due to continous and growing pain, which also led to temporary paralysis of his right arm, which due to temporary medications got partially recovered. But as the cancerous cells are growing fast near his spinal cord its becoming critical day by day to operate.

Doctors have reached to a conclusion to provide Chemotherapy and Radiation followed by Immunotherapy.

His last hope to live is the pioneering Immuno Therapy. Consulting Doctors have advised that this is the best option for him. It can give him a good chance of survival and perhaps cure. As per the doctors, this therapy has helped people who have received it. It has emerged as a powerful treatment in recent years. However, the treatment is extremely expensive, unaffordable with out-of-pocket means. It is estimated to cost Rs 65,00,000.

My Uncle has been a fighter all his life. Yet, fighting cancer has drawn every bit of his strength and taken a toll on him, physically and emotionally, even as he continues to put up a brave face. On top of it he has been battling it away from his family, burning his life’s savings and with little visibility into the future.

Those who have known him know very well that he is a gem of a person. He is loved and fondly associated within his friends and associate circle. He has been a loving son, great uncle and a wonderful person. We cannot imagine life without him.

We urge you to pray for him and contribute with an open heart so Somanath can get this treatment urgently and get well for good. So he can continue to be a loving person and a doting father, so he can read bedtime stories to his grandchildrens and be a witness to them growing up. Give Somanath the gift of hope!
