    Small Retailers

    from Gurugram, Haryana

Story

Project Aasha aims to reach out and help the small retailers which are severely impacted by COVID 19 lockdown. Our goal is to provide restart capital to small retailers and SMEs who lost their earnings, investments and all livelihoods during lockdown. We want to empower these small entrepreneurs so that they start fresh and rebuild their life.

EKO who is a leading provider of money remittance services to the gig workers through the small retailers, has joined hands with Jeevitam and Jindagi Live to reach out to these affected section of people.  Jeevitam is a digital livelihood platform which connects work seekers and work providers focussing on bottom of the pyramid segment i.e. migrant workers, blue collar workers, gig economy workers & construction workers.
On evaluating our huge network of 2 lakh + retailers, we have identified the worst hit people in this section, even though small but were enterprising, who have lost their regular  businesses and are left with little or no option to provide for their families.

As we rebuild their lives over the next few months, we look for your support to help them restart their businesses to meet their everyday livelihood needs.

This is worse than anything we have seen before: As a comparison, even during the peak of demonetization, business was affected but there was no complete shutdown, but currently, even if they are allowed to open shops, same business volume may not come back for a while.
Prices are rising: As supply chains get stressed, prices for essential commodities are going up by 20-40%.
Access to credit is limited: Formal credit was difficult to access for these small mom and pop store even in pre-COVID times. Currently, with the liquidity crunch, it is even more difficult for them to raise capital for business.
This absolute lack of economic activity along with rampaging inflation can easily tip these families, that had stretched finances, into distress. This time really is difficult.

How is project Aasha helping

We are ensuring that once the money is donated to these retailers, they utilize this money to restock essential items and restart their businesses.

We want to ensure that we help the most enterprising and also the neediest of our businessmen and ensure the money is wisely distributed. We want to do this by making transfers to those citizen’s wallet who demonstrably need the money and are capable of utilizing this money efficiently for their businesses.

By applying the rules described below to our customer base who certainly need our help. We want to offer these small retailers a startup seed fund of 15,000. For this project, we need to raise a total of Rs. 10 crores.

How can you help?

By donating funds for the cause as per your comfort. Your money can go to an individual or a pool of people basis on the amount you donated.
