WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
One of the biggest problems in India today is the millions of children living without an educational background. Although India has experienced substantial economic growth over the last two decades, it has failed to cater to its prevalent educational issues. For too many children and families in India, financial insecurity and a lack of resources are a barrier to an education and a successful future.
According to a UNESCO report, India has 34% of the world's illiterate population with more than 270 million people who illiterate.
This is the same problem Vidya is tackling, as the organisation strives to educate underprivileged children, and set them up for a better future. However, due to the stupendous number of underprivileged children in Mumbai, the demand for this opportunity is far too great, and consequently, not every child gets the privilege of being educated. Furthermore, more computers also provide more opportunities for the staff, as they receive quality and efficient laptops and can hence provide better educational services to the needy.
Personally, I have had the privilege of having a laptop for my personal use which has enabled me to learn several new things and build my knowledge in this exciting space. I am certain that this is the case for anyone viewing this page, as this device is essential to one's daily activities and education. Together, by funding my campaign, we all can provide the same opportunity to many more underprivileged children, by supporting Vidya and helping them fuel the dreams of these children!
WHAT HAPPENS ONCE I RECEIVE THE FUNDS?
Once I receive the money needed, I would donate the money to Vidya. I would then work with the Vidya staff to purchase the correct model of the computer needed by the organisation, and then eventually purchase the computers.
My name is Siddhant Agarwal and I am a grade ten student at Singapore International School, in Mumbai. Over the past six months, I have been working with the Vidya organisation, providing them with training material in the fields of programming and computer science. The organisation provides me with an opportunity to help the sector of society that is underprivileged and does not have access to basic necessities, which is very important to me.
