At first glance, Shuvam looks like any other child his age – happily drawing, colouring and playing around. However, Shuvam is not like other children. Born healthy to his mute mother, Saraswati, they soon realized he too is mute. To add to his struggle, Shuvam also has cataract in both eyes – a condition where his lens have developed abnormally. With some help, the family could afford the surgery for Shuvam’s right eye a few years ago, but affording the surgery for his left eye is beyond Saraswati’s means.
