I believe I can hear my potential's cry
I believe it takes courage to fulfill your dream,
I believe it takes guts to just believe!
Hey there, I am Shubhangi and I have received an offer from The University of Manchester for my Master’s beginning in September 2019. University of Manchester is one of the top 30 universities in the world and receiving an admit is a dream come true. But what makes is even better is that my twin has also received an offer from the same university!! However, due to huge financial constraints and being International students, we are finding it very difficult to fund our degrees. I cannot imagine staying back after more than a year of hard work and sleepless nights only due to lack of funds.
A little bit about me: In 2017, I completed my Bachelor of Engineering with 9.3 GPA. I have maintained a track-record of academic excellence, despite my struggles with the financial demands of my degree together with my health.
During my degree, I was actively involved in various clubs and was a part of the organizing committee of college fests. My family's financial situation in 2017 left me and my sister with no choice but to halt our education after graduating and get a job to support the expenses. So far, I have an experience of 2 years in Analytics and that has reinforced my determination to pursue my dream. However, it is now time for me to pursue my dreams and I can be a step closer with your help.
Henry David Thoreau once said - "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them." My castle is built in the field of Analytics. My castle is being in a global consulting firm, sharpening my strategic and business development skills to achieve my long term goal of being a successful social entrepreneur and work at the United Nations. To lay a strong foundation for my castle, the first stepping stone could not be more logical - the MSc in Business Analytics at The University of Manchester.
Unfortunately, no opportunity comes for free. You have to pay not only with hard work, dedication and tireless preparation - but also with the finances needed to gain top-quality education. 1 Pound is almost 90 times the Indian National Rupee, and there is not a single point in the application process when I am not reminded of this unavoidable bottleneck. The application process alone cost me almost twice my monthly salary. The tuition fee of the program is £22,000 (~₹20 lakh) which is around 3.5 times my annual salary; with accommodation and living expenses it will be close to 5 times my annual salary. Multiply the entire amount by 2 and that is what our tuition cost will be for enrolling both of us into our respective Masters that is £44,000 (~₹40 lakh).
The visa restrictions imposed on international students by the Home Office limits our ability to work more than 20 hours a week. Nonetheless, we are hoping to cover our living expenses by working longer hours outside of term time. This will be added to our savings of approximately £3000 each (~₹3 lakh). Hence, I have not included living costs in this campaign. The amount raised will help me finance my tuition fee.
I am highly motivated to pursue this course and do not want to miss this opportunity only due to lack of funding. All donations, even the smallest ones, would be hugely appreciated. I look forward to your support as an International student who aspires to study in Manchester.
Thank you, Gracious!
