Menstruation is an already stigmatized around the world and the pandemic has further fuelled the pre-existing taboo. Given Shubh Helping Hands Foundation’s (SHHF) work and our strong community connect, we acknowledged that due to the economic conditions of certain vulnerable families of the unorganised sector (domestic helpers, migrant labourers, etc), the sanitary needs of the women of these family had become the last of the families’ worries which had begun posing a threat for some females and had the potential to put the other females also at risk who were undergoing similar circumstances. After repeated interactions at the community level, SHHF identified girls/ women whose sanitary needs were critical in the community and aimed to cater to them by the provision of subsidized sanitary pads. With a vision to link our beneficiaries to Government resources that could provide similar products as the mainstream market at 1/7th the cost more sustainably, since August 2020, SHHF is supporting 30 women and young girls through provision of sanitation kits (Monthly -Sanitary pads, soap, sanitizer; Quarterly- Mask) which would take care of their monthly menstruation needs especially in the unusual times of COVID.  

How you can help?
We currently have a database of more females and are on a lookout for assistive support to help these extremely needy beneficiaries. Ways in which you can encourage SHHF’s efforts in this pandemic:  
∙         Sponsor kits for the identified women
∙         Educate women about periods and help us break the taboo
∙         Start a distribution centre* for 2-10 girls and take care of their monthly sanitation needs
∙         Buy our original SHHF masks/head towels wrap and spread the word
∙         Become an SHHF member and stay updated about our activities
Every drop in the ocean counts and we as SHHF would welcome your support in every manner.
Actions to benefit others are not separate from actions to benefit oneself. Our lives and lives of others are ultimately inseparable. Looking at how things have influenced lives across the globe given the unforeseen circumstances and the unpredictability it comes with, it is unimaginable what women and young girls from the unorganized sector of this vulnerable population are undergoing.
